Indiana Pediatric Cancer Advocacy Day 2025

About

The Indiana Pediatric Cancer Coalition will host its inaugural Statehouse Day on Thursday, January 16th from 1-4 PM in the Indiana Statehouse atrium. This event will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including families, foundations, scientists, practitioners, and advocates, to raise awareness about the critical need for increased funding and support for pediatric cancer research and treatment in Indiana.

Pre-Event  Training

We are offering LIVE training for the Indiana Pediatric Cancer Coalition Statehouse Day. Please plan to join us on January 16, or if you cannot, take the time to review the recording, which less than 30 minutes long.

Option 1) Virtual. If you missed the Jan 7 session, you can view the recording using passcode U4?it&i%
Option 2) In-Person January 16th in Room 401 at the Indiana State Library (adjacent to the statehouse at 315 W Ohio St.) from 11am-noon.

Getting to the event

The Indiana Statehouse is located at, 200 W. Washington St., at the corner of Capitol and Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis. (map link)

Our event will be in the 2nd Floor North Atrium, which is on the main public level of the building, but not on the ground floor.

Public entrances are located on the lower west side (Senate Avenue, ground level) and upper east side (Capitol Avenue, up the stairs) of the building. All individuals entering the building must proceed through a security checkpoint, so it is recommended that you arrive into downtown Indianapolis at least 30 minutes early to allow time to find parking and navigate the bag check and metal detector before the start time.

Parking

Street parking on the streets directly surrounding the Statehouse is likely to be limited during the legislative session as much of it will be reserved for legislators and their aides, but if you select a space more than a block away, you may have luck. The nearest public lots will be the Indiana Historical Society Lot ($3/hr or free with minimum gift shop or café purchase) and Court Street Garage ($28/day). The most affordable parking garage option nearby is the World of Wonders Garage at the Circle Center Mall ($20 for 2-4 hours).

Event Schedule

You can get an idea of the agenda for the event by accessing our Event Schedule. Please be aware this is a working document until we “go to print” Wednesday afternoon.

Key Focus of the Event

  • Advocating for the establishment of a dedicated pediatric cancer research and treatment grant program. This program, as recommended by the Indiana Rare Disease Advisory Council (RDAC) in its 2024 annual report, will help advance research and improve outcomes for children with cancer in Indiana.
  • Building a strong and united voice for children with cancer and their families in Indiana. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, we aim to amplify our collective impact and advocate for policies that prioritize the needs of this vulnerable population.
